Jo completed her undergraduate studies at birmingham conservatoire, studying bassoon with martin gatt and maria mealey and contrabassoon with margaret cookhorn. She continued her studies with a postgraduate diploma at the royal college of music, studying bassoon with sarah burnett and contrabassoon with martin field.
Jo has a varied teaching career, she is currently woodwind co-ordinator and bassoon tutor at junior royal birmingham conservatoire, alongside bassoon tutor and bassoon technical examiner at royal birmingham conservatoire.
Jo is currently bassoon tutor for birmingham university, university of nottingham, king’s high warwick, warwick school, warwick prep, king’s edward vi boys school, birmingham, king edward vi girls school, birmingham, west house school, bluecoat school edgbaston, old swinford hospital school and assessor for leeds college of music. She teaches privately at home and online for pupils who have moved abroad and wish to continue their bassoon studies.
She also enjoys education work with trio capriccio alongside freelance orchestral playing and chamber music with various groups throughout the uk.
