Alexandra Callanan

Alexandra is a graduate of the rcm, where she studied with martin gatt, julie price and andrea di flammeneis, achieving a bmus hons and pgdip. Throughout her time there she was a scholar and winner of the fanny hughes bassoon prize for two consecutive years.

Fiona Troon

Fiona studied bassoon, contra bassoon and jazz piano at birmingham conservatoire and the Royal College of Music from 1997- 2003. After graduating she freelanced widely with many uk orchestras and ensembles such as the bbc concert, philharmonic and symphony orchestras ,

Connie Tanner

Connie studied at the royal academy of music in london, graduating in 2000 with her teaching licentiate (lram). She held the post of associate principal bassoon with rte national symphony orchestra of ireland in dublin for 5 years before returning to the uk in 2013 and is now regarded as one of the uk’s top freelance bassoonists.

Iona Garvie

Iona completed her Master of Music with distinction at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2008, after studying at the Royal College of Music. Based in Scotland, she freelances widely as a bassoon and contrabassoon player, performing with top orchestras including the BBC Symphony, Philharmonia, LSO, and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Her career spans classical to modern styles, alongside a passion for teaching. Outside music, Iona enjoys yoga and rock climbing.

Laura Vincent

Laura is a London-based bassoonist and teacher, holding teaching posts at Dulwich College, King’s College School, and Eltham College. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and Manhattan School of Music, she has performed with many of the UK’s top orchestras. Career highlights include touring the USA with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and performing at the BBC Proms with Florence + the Machine. In 2015, she was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.

Dan Bosinceanu

Dan is a berkshire-based bassoonist and educator. He studied at trinity laban conservatoire of music and dance, where he was awarded the harold clarke woodwind competition, the vernon elliot bassoon prize, and a royal philharmonic society sir john barbirolli foundation scholarship.

Andrew Huntriss

Andrew studied music and philosophy at the university of birmingham, before undertaking a master’s degree at the guildhall school of music and drama in london. As a professional bassoonist, andrew has appeared on television and radio, and has performed extensively across europe, including a six month spell in portugal.

Jo Shewan

Joanna is a seasoned professional bassoonist with over 25 years of performance experience. Throughout her illustrious career, she has played with many of the country’s leading orchestras, including the bbc philharmonic, bbc now, bbc concert orchestra, halle, britten sinfonia, bournemouth symphony, royal liverpool philharmonic, and welsh national opera, among others.

Jo Mayne

Jo completed her undergraduate studies at birmingham conservatoire, studying bassoon with martin gatt and maria mealey and contrabassoon with margaret cookhorn.

Sarah Nixon

Sarah is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where she studied with David Chatwin, Nick Lander, Peter Wesley and Ed Warren. Originally a flute player, she took up the bassoon at the age of 16 and fell in love with its quirky individuality, versatility and singing baritone voice. Since leaving the RNCM Sarah has firmly established herself as a sought after freelance bassoon and contra player, and regularly works with the majority of the UK’s professional orchestras.
