Luke Dempsey has served as Principal Trumpet of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra (Copenhagen Phil) since 2022. His extensive performance experience also includes guest appearances with prestigious ensembles such as the Oslo Philharmonic, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Danish Orchestra. Luke also performs regularly as a soloist with a wide range of ensembles across Scandinavia.
Dan was born in 1983 and grew up in the Splott area of Cardiff. He started playing cornet at the age of eight under the tutelage of Matthew Thistlewood, and moved onto tuba at the age of eleven whilst attending Glantâf Comprehensive School, during which time he gained a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain at the age of fifteen.
Robert is an accomplished trumpeter and professor at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban, with a notable career as principal trumpet for top orchestras like the Philharmonia and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Andrew is a renowned trombonist, conductor, and educator with an international career, holding principal positions with leading UK orchestras and currently directing the NSO Symphony Orchestra in Abu Dhabi.
Cai enjoys a diverse performing career spanning chamber groups, classical and operatic orchestras, West End shows, solo work, and conducting, alongside his passion for teaching. He has held leadership roles as Head of Brass at Shrewsbury School and St Paul’s Juniors (Hammersmith), as well as running a private teaching studio. A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music (BMUS) and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (MMUS), Cai’s freelance orchestral experience includes the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and more. He has also performed with commercial artists like Sigur Rós and Bastille, toured with Miss Saigon and Wicked, and been involved in world premieres such as Only the Brave and Flowers for Mrs Harris.
Vickie is a trumpet and piano graduate of the Guildhall School and Royal Academy of Music, and a founding member of the acclaimed all-female brass quartet Bella Tromba. She has performed worldwide with top brass bands and toured with major UK pop acts. Now based in New Zealand, she is Musical Director of the National Secondary Schools Brass Band and an advocate for community music. A Yamaha and Denis Wick artist, Vickie is passionate about sharing the joy and power of music through performance and education.

Over 20 years, I’ve developed a tailored teaching approach that helps students at all levels progress at their own pace. From young beginners to returning adults, I focus on making music fun and achievable. If my students enjoy playing as much as I do, they’re already succeeding.
Rob Johnston trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has since built a busy freelance career performing with major UK orchestras including Welsh National Opera, the Philharmonia, and BBC NOW, touring across Europe, Hong Kong, and Dubai. He is passionate about music education, teaching trumpet at Monmouth School, Christ College Brecon, and for over 20 years at the Junior Conservatoire of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Alan studied at chetham’s school of music and the guildhall school of music & drama.
Prior to joining welsh national opera , alan was principal bass trombone with orchestras in germany and south africa.
