Vickie Van Uden

Age Range: 7 and Up

During her early years vickie studied with (principal trumpet of The Hallé Orchestra) Gareth small and goff richards at the prestigious Chethams School of Music. Vickie has performed with many of the world’s premier brass bands such as Brighouse and Rastrick and The Fairey band as well as touring with several famous UK pop bands. Vickie completed her musical education at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music on trumpet and piano. As a soloist, Vickie has recorded two solo CDs for trumpet and piano and is a founding member of all-female brass quartet Bella Tromba, who regularly performed for royalty at Buckingham and Windsor castle and has travelled with the quartet extensively all over the world for over 20 years.

Since moving to New Zealand in 2021, Vickie gained the position of national secondary school brass band musical director and has also enjoyed adjudicating at Dunedin’s national finals 2023.

Vickie is a Yamaha artist and plays a Yamaha flugelhorn and also a Denis Wick artist playing on Denis Wick mouthpieces. Vickie enjoys conducting, playing and educating within The Woolston Brass organisation, especially since launching their Hapori whānui āhei programme in 2022.

I feel truly humbled having the gift of music in my life, to be able to experience the beauty and passion it brings everyday to those around me, to do what brings you joy every day of your life whether as a performer or an educator is a true privilege and should be never taken for granted.
