Andrew studied music and philosophy at The University of Birmingham, before undertaking a master’s degree at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. As a professional bassoonist, Andrew has appeared on television and radio, and has performed extensively across Europe, including a six month spell in Portugal. After a period freelancing in London, he moved to Belo Horizonte in Brazil to join the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011. He remained there for eight years, playing concerts throughout Brazil, touring Argentina and Uruguay, and featuring on Naxos recordings. At the end of 2019 Andrew returned to the UK, where in addition to his concert schedule, he teaches the bassoon at a number of prestigious schools including Clifton college, Prior park college, Bryanston school, Dauntsey’s school and Clayesmore school. He has performed with many orchestras throughout the UK, including as guest principal. Playing engagements over the past year have included performances with the Bristol Ensemble, Bath Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
