Wai-yin lee was born in Hong Kong, where she obtained her first music degree in piano from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). In 2000, she was awarded a two-year full scholarship from The Royal College of Music in London. After completing her masters degree in piano performance at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD), she continued her studies as a repetiteur. The following year, she was awarded a repetiteur fellowship at the GSMD for the period of two years. In the same year while she was a repetiteur fellow at GSMD, she was also invited to join National Opera Studio (NOS) as a part-time repetiteur.
Since her arrival in the United Kingdom, Wai-Yin has established a dynamic and versatile musical career. Apart from giving solo and chamber recitals at various prestigious venues across UK and abroad, she has also worked for lots of opera companies and developed a close bond with world-acclaimed singers.
Wai-yin is currently working at The Royal College of Music as a repetiteur and a staff accompanist for the opera studio and the vocal department. She is also frequently invited to work at The Royal Academy of Music and play for their opera scenes performances. Furthermore, she is also heavily involved in the outreach programme and playing for events and workshops organised by Opera Holland Park
