Myfanwy Price began her oboe studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Junior Department. She went on to complete her BMUS degree and Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music. For several years, she was the principal oboist of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales and the Young Musicians’ Symphony Orchestra.
For a number of years, she was the principal oboe of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa, having also held the same position at the Alba Regia Symphony Orchestra in Hungary.
In addition, Myfanwy also regularly performs with the Chineke! Orchestra, including at the BBC Proms and on international tours. She has been a guest principal with a number of other orchestras including the Britten Sinfonia and Irish National Opera, and has also played with orchestras such as the Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra.
Alongside this, she has enjoyed teaching private students who have ranged from complete beginners to conservatoire students, as well as giving masterclasses such as at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and coaching youth woodwind ensembles such as the Chineke! Junior Orchestra and Orkidstra in Canada.
Other career highlights have included performing with Sir Bryn Terfel and the Britten Sinfonia as a guest soloist and appearing as a soloist with Chineke! in Coleman’s Phenomenal Women. part of Barbara Hannigan’s Momentum scheme and at the Wigmore Hall with the Chineke! Wind Quintet.
