Ilid Jones
Ilid studied at the Royal College of Music. During her time there she received many awards and prizes, including an associated board scholarship, an exhibition for performance and the Joy Boughton oboe prize. She was also awarded the prestigious Royal College of Music Tagore gold medal for outstanding contribution to the college at the end of her studies there. As a result of her success as a soloist she has had the opportunity to play for various music societies and festivals throughout the British Isles and abroad.
Solo recitals have included performances at St. Martin in the fields and St. David’s hall, Cardiff to name but a few, and recently she performed the Strauss oboe concerto at Cadogan hall, and the Vaughan Williams concerto at the Purcell room, London.
She regularly plays for most of the leading British orchestras, including the BBC Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of Glyndebourne touring opera as sub principal oboe and cor anglais player.
She also plays in the west end, in musicals such as Wicked, Les Miserables and Back to the future.
Ilid’s most recent and forthcoming work include performances at Glyndebourne opera and the BBC Proms.
