Kwesi Edman
Kwesi is a british cellist and conductor known for his versatile and expressive musicianship across classical, contemporary, and popular music. Born in the UK to Caribbean parents, he brings a rich cultural perspective to his work as both a performer and educator. A graduate of The Royal Academy of Music in London, Kwesi has worked with artists from leading ensembles including The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-fields, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Opera House Orchestra. He has also collaborated with high-profile artists such as Damon Albarn, Liam Gallagher, Jimmy Page and Elton John.
In addition to his performance career, Kwesi is a passionate and experienced teacher. His teaching roles have included:
• Forest School – cello teacher tor years 2-13 : Head of Chamber Music
• Oxford cello school – Director of performance, advanced, and alpine courses
• Youth music centre – cello and double bass tutor
• Caesar cello ensemble – co-founder and director of a community ensemble for players of all levels
• Co-founder and conductor of Chamber Academy Orchestra – an orchestra for non-professionals offering a ‘can-do’ approach to challenging popular repertoire.
Kwesi’s teaching is rooted in technical strength, musical exploration, and inclusivity. He is committed to helping students build confidence and creativity through a supportive and engaging approach to learning.
