Kate has a varied career of teaching, performing and recording. Kate has been teaching for over 15 years. She finds this extremely rewarding and currently teaches all brass and music theory at The Royal Masonic school for girls in Rickmansworth, both in the prep and senior schools and she also teaches privately. She has previously held teaching posts at Hampton school and Ealing junior music school.
Alongside teaching, Kate has played with orchestras across the UK and Ireland including The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Ulster Orchestra and London Contemporary Orchestra, also performing for BBC proms and broadcasts. She has toured across Europe, Asia and the USA with Camerata Ireland directed by pianist Barry Douglas. Kate’s film, television and commercial recordings include the Downton Abbey films, Spider-man: Into the spider-verse, Dr who and Stranger things. She has also recorded for artists such as Little Simz, The Weekend and Jonny Greenwood.
Kate began learning horn aged 10 at The City of Belfast School of Music, becoming a member of The National Youth Orchestra of Britain. She moved to London to study at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, gaining a place in the European Union Youth Orchestra and continued her studies at The Royal College of Music with Simon Rayner, receiving numerous awards and scholarships.
