Lucy Jenkins
Professional violinist from the Royal College of Music, London, with a music specialist postgraduate degree from Exeter University. I have had a varied performing career, working with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to being a session musician in films, TV, pop, rock, and jazz bands. My highlights include the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, Jonny Dankworth and Cleo Lane’s 50th wedding anniversary concert at the RAH, and touring China, Seychelles, and Africa with various orchestras and chamber ensembles.
I have taught the violin for over 20 years, enjoying teaching in London, the Rikkyo Japanese School in Sussex, and for the past twelve years teaching at Truro School, Truro High, South West Music Service, and privately in Cornwall.
My approach to violin teaching focuses on helping pupils develop a relaxed and secure technique, gaining confidence in their musical, aural, and reading skills through a wide range of repertoire. Many of my students have won scholarships and obtained high marks in their ABRSM and Trinity College exams, going on to specialist music schools, colleges, and universities.
I love playing the violin, and my main goal is for my pupils to enjoy playing the violin as much as I do.
