Josie Ellis

Josie joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 2019 and she continues to freelance with the UK’s finest orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia and English National Opera. She was a prize winner at the Royal Academy of Music and graduated with first class honours. She continued her studies in Switzerland and then in Germany with Božo Paradžik. Shortly after this Josie held positions with the Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg and then with the SWR Sinfonieorchester. She played regularly with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, touring across Europe and Asia, and appeared as concerto soloist with the Baden-Baden Philharmonie. She moved back to the UK in 2011 to take up a position with the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester before moving to London four years later. 
Josie is passionate about teaching and teaches at the junior department of the Royal Academy of Music and has coached the basses of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and  inspire. She has worked with students at the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Northern College of Music.
